The Magic of Vivaldi – The Four Seasons is a groundbreaking artistic project that reimagines the classical concert format. Fusing live music with spectacular movement and painterly visuals, the performance simultaneously honors Vivaldi's legacy and paves the way for a completely new experience for contemporary audiences.

In 1725, exactly three hundred years ago, a special ship sailed into the port of Venice. A remarkable delivery was on board: the freshly printed score of Antonio Vivaldi's The Four Seasons – a work that forever changed the course of music history. Three centuries later, in 2025, this stunning, visual concert experience commemorates that historic moment.

In the stunning, 3D-effect visual space, the timeless deeper layers of Venice unfold with unprecedented intensity. In this vivid, painterly rich world, the authentic (Baroque-style) musical performance, along with the dance movements choreographed with fraction-of-a-second precision to the dual axis of music and image, appear as the very essence of Vivaldi and Venice.

Between the movements of The Four Seasons, electronic music interludes complement the production – appearing as a kind of parallel universe where viewers enter the submerged, distorted reflection of a sinking Venice. With this, the creators not only establish an emotional contrast but also convey an attention-grabbing, ecological, and cultural message: if we are not careful, Venice could truly disappear. This layer is not only spectacular but also dramatic and timely – using the power of art to point out the severe problems of climate change and our declining culture.

The originality of the concept, the painterly richness of the visual motifs, and the cinematic detail of the visual world, which comes to life with a real spatial effect, create a unique multimedia production that draws the audience in and carries them away.

The MAGIC OF VIVALDI – The Four Seasons opens up new dimensions of music, dance, and visuality. The musical world is represented by the Győr Philharmonic Orchestra, and the art of movement by the Budapest Dance Theatre – together creating a total-art journey for the audience: a concert experience that connects the past and the future.

Tibor Bogányi

Director, Conductor

Tibor Bogányi is a Franz Liszt Prize-winning conductor and director renowned for his bold artistic vision and powerful musical interpretations. As the director of the Carmina Burana 3D production, he broke new ground by blending classical music with visual storytelling, adding a new dimension to the concert experience. With his creation Magic of Vivaldi – The Four Seasons, he aims to contemporize classical music and engage younger generations.

Ágnes Zászkaliczky

Artistic Director

A visual artist who creates unique, immersive experiences at the intersection of music and fine art. Their work has been exhibited in numerous cities across Europe and America, including Budapest, Vienna, Miami, and Palm Beach. As the artistic director for the Hungarian State Opera’s Carmina Burana 3D production, they pioneered the fusion of music and visual storytelling. In the Magic of Vivaldi – The Four Seasons project, their goal is to present classical music to the audience in a contemporary, visually compelling form, exploring new emotional depths.

Győr Philharmonic Orchestra

One of Hungary’s most innovative and acclaimed symphonic ensembles. They have performed extensively across Europe, including at venues like the Vienna Musikverein and the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie, and have also toured to great success in Asia’s leading concert halls in Japan, South Korea, and China. Their music is defined by its professionalism, international caliber, and innovative spirit. In their performance of Magic of Vivaldi – The Four Seasons, they aim to communicate the essence of classical music in a contemporary and experiential format.

Budapest Dance Theatre

For nearly 30 years, the company, under the leadership of founder Béla Földi, has been a defining force in the Hungarian dance scene. In Lóránd Zachár’s choreography for Magic of Vivaldi – The Four Seasons, the dancers are an integral part of the piece, serving as active partners to the music and visuals, where movement becomes the physical embodiment of the score.

Lóránd Zachár

Choreographer

A prominent figure in contemporary dance, he blends classical technique and modern movement vocabulary with theatrical expression. His career began at Rock Theatre and Madách Theatre before he moved to the Netherlands to work with the Danceworks Rotterdam company. His work is featured on numerous international stages, and his choreographies, built on the synthesis of movement and music, delve into the depths of human emotion. He also teaches at several European institutions.

Nikolette Bati

Costume designer

In addition to her work in creative theatre, she works as a costume designer and costume maker. She has gained extensive experience in the creation of classical ballet and contemporary dance costumes, working as a costume assistant for internationally renowned choreographers. A distinctive feature of her own designs is the detailed craftsmanship applied to her characters, using hand-made appliqués and painting.

The most famous and popular work of Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi, The Four Seasons consists of four violin concertos. Now, on Margaret Island, it comes to life in a new dimension, using 21st-century tools to evoke the magical atmosphere of the Italian Baroque era. This unique musical experience is enhanced by aristocratic choreography in period costumes, as well as the sight of stately palaces and landscapes that unfold on a gigantic 17×6 meter LED wall, brought to life by 3D technology. The performance is sure to engage and enchant the audience of the Margaret Island Open-Air Theatre.
